Pretty Smart: Lessons from our Miss Americas

Author Speaker Series In Lexington, MA

Please join the Wharton Club of Boston for an evening with our distinguished speaker Penny Pearlman, WG '83. As the author of Pretty Smart: Lessons from our Miss America she  tracked down and seduced twenty-two former Miss Americas, including Phyllis George, Lee Meriwether and Mary Ann Mobley into talking with her about what it takes to pursue a dream and achieve success across the decades of their lives.

Gretchen Carlson, co-host of the #1 rated cable morning news program, “Fox and Friends,” and Miss America 1989, had this to say about Pretty Smart.

"If you follow the lessons in Pretty Smart, you'll be inspired to pursue your own dreams of success. Penny has captured the character, courage and intelligence of my Miss America sisters. It's a read that shatters the stereotypes of Miss America contestants and takes you inside the lives of some of the most goal-achieving women of our time."

With their thoughtful intelligence and eloquent poise, these women shatter the myth that the Pageant is “just a beauty contest.” Their stories prove that it takes vision, discipline, and drive and yes, brains to win the crown.
